Acknowledged as one of the cars that has had a major impact on drag racing for well over 50 years is the limited production of the 1968 Super Stock Plymouth HEMI Barracuda and 1968 Super Stock HEMI Dart. These ‘Package Cars,’ were not street legal and developed by Chrysler to dominate the NHRA and AHRA’s premier door slammer classes such as Super Stock and Modified Production.
By early 1968, Sox & Martin received their HEMI Barracuda and had little time to prepare it to be a part of Chrysler/Plymouth’s corporate display at the 1968 New York Auto Show. From there the Sox & Martin HEMI Barracuda was on a mission to win and it racked up numerous class wins and victories across the country.
Throughout the 1968 and 1969 race season, the Sox & Martin 1968 HEMI Barracuda dominated the sport with the highlight being a resounding Super Stock victory at the iconic NHRA U.S. Nationals.
